Computer Science II Honors (full course) - Computers at The Heights School - 10400 Seven Locks Road, Potomac, MD
The Heights is pleased to announce the introduction of a new Computer Science course this summer, being offered to any interested high school or rising high school students. This is a challenging, graded for-credit course which will allow students to enter Computers III Honors the following school year. Its focus will be on developing logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as professional virtues by collaborating and coding solutions to real world problems. This course will feature: - A curriculum developed and overseen by Dr. Jan-Hein Cremers, holding a PhD in physics from Harvard and BS in physics from MIT. Dr. Cremers has used programming to solve problems in science and finance, and uses Python daily in his current work as a hedge fund portfolio manager. - Students taking advantage of using the same tools and being held to the same standards as if working in a professional environment. - The use of computer programming in a variety of industries, from finance to engineering to medicine. - Students who finish this course will receive credit, and have the option to enroll in Computers III Honors next fall. Alternatively, students may opt to audit, in which case they will not receive credit, but may still be considered for enrolling in Computers III the next year. - It is highly recommended that students bring their own laptop.
